Duke of Edinburgh Award Gold Open Journey

This course provides students with the opportunity to train and qualify for the GOLD Duke of Edinburgh's Adventurous Journey in a mountain environment.

The first part of the week will be a practice with a chance to refresh important tramping skills and understanding of what's expected on the qualifying leg, which will then be on the second part of the week with 3 nights out on a journey.

The expected outcomes are for the students to:

• Develop communication skills, team-work and a feeling of self-worth

• Develop self-confidence, initiative and self-reliance
