Adventure Based Learning - STAR April
Time & Location
About The Event
The Boyle organises two ABL Courses each year for students in Years 11-13. The demand is high........students and teachers are encouraged to ring the Boyle now to book in their students.
These residential courses are organised in the school holidays with students from a variety of schools participating. The course provides students with the opportunity to experience Adventure Based Learning in a mountain environment. There is a strong focus on personal and social development through participation in outdoor activities. A more detailed description of what ABL is can be found here.
Students will set and review personal and group goals, challenge themselves, develop self-confidence and a feeling of self worth. This is an ideal course to develop team work and can lead on to our Potential Leaders Course at a later date.
All participants will have the opportunity to complete three L2 unit standards in Adventure Based Learning for a total of 9 credits. The instructors will be gathering evidence for the students throughout the week, providing feedback and coaching where necessary.
Students will gain some insight into the world of work for those employed as outdoor instructors. They will be introduced to the tertiary pathways that lead to a career in outdoor education, adventure tourism and outdoor recreation.
We are also able to organise single school ABL courses on request at other times. Please contact us for more details.
