This is a fantastic 5 day wilderness trip from the Acheron River/Clarence River confluence near Hanmer Springs, to the sea near Kaikoura, on the east coast. The Clarence River passes through the Molesworth Station and then threads its way between the Seaward and Inland Kaikoura's through spectacular gorges and a few Grade 3 rapids. Finally the gorges open out into the Clarence Valley farmland before reaching the SH1 bridge, where we are picked up for the return drive to Hanmer Springs.

Each day is spent paddling with breaks for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Each night we reach a campsite along side the river and set up camp. Meals will be prepared for you and the night is spent by the campfire.

Trip Dates and Cost Page    Prices include instruction, equipment, food, transport and a great time!

Arrive SH1 on the last day about lunchtime. Transport takes us back to Hanmer (2.5 hours). It is possible that the trip could take a day longer due to adverse weather/river conditions - please allow for this possibility when planning your time.
